Did you know you are balancing the whole time you are walking? It’s called a dynamic balance.

Everyone likes to have great posture, but how many of us maintain that posture while we are moving forward…like when we are going for a walk?

If you engage your core, you’re not only getting a little cardio in, but you are getting a core workout too!

To fully engage your core and to have proper walking form, here are TWO key points:

  1. Gently press your lats (the muscles underneath your arms) in toward your shoulder blades. This will naturally lift your chest, lengthen your spine, and your belly button will go in toward your spine.
  2. Lead with your heel first. Walking on your toes can cause you to trip. Also, this will prevent you from walking sloth foot, or pigeon toed.

If you remember these two points while you are walking, you will be effectively engaging your core and getting a little cardio in too. (Hopefully you have a super sweet doggie like Bailey with you!)
