Achy back? Try this exercise!

Working at the computer for long periods of time can take its toll on our muscles. If we don’t pay attention, we are bent over in one position for lengths of time. (Ouch!) Upper back muscles are stretched and chest muscles are shortened. It’s a perfect recipe for mid and upper back pain.

Taking a break and revitalizing those muscles with a quick and easy exercise will help.

Try this: Back away from the desk and bend at your hips. Reach outward with both arms, feeling the shoulder blades come together. Squeeze them gently and lower the arms. Do about 10. Then give your shoulder blades a nice stretch by reaching forward with both arms, interlacing your fingers and pushing forward. Then do 10 more….nice and slow. (Don’t forget that stretch!)

This exercise will help strengthen those poor back muscles that support us all of the time.

Take a look at the video below. Hope this helps to relieve that back discomfort that comes with getting your work done on the computer!
